Fujisan is the symbolic mountain of Japan. Every winter and autumn, if the weather is relatively good enough, there is a beautiful spectacle of nature called “Diamond Fuji” is visible along Yamanashi prefecture, Tokyo, or even as far as Ibaraki prefecture. “Diamond Fuji” is a beautiful phenomenon occurs when the rising or setting sun aligns with the peak of Mt. Fuji, causing Mt. Fuji to shine bright like a diamond, hence its name. The bright red sun being absorbed into Mt. Fuji lasts for a mere 3 minutes. Each second is so precious and unique, it’s seems a waste to even blink. However, thousands of people still flock to vantage points around the area chase to capture this mysterious beauty for just a moment even they need to wait for the whole night and withstand the freezing cold weather.
For taking a nice shot of “Diamond Fuji”, people always come early to hold for a good seat and set the camera.
Actually, there are still a few spots in and around Tokyo where you can catch this magnificent wonder, such as Funabashi park, Mt. Takao or Tokyo Tower. From Tokyo Tower, You can have a glimpse at the “Diamond Fuji” for two times every year, the last time for 2016 is Nov 2nd, and the next time properly will be occurs in around Feb of 2017. There is “Diamond Fuji week” event hold in Yamanashi prefecture every year. You can see Candle-light up illumination and fireworks display. The scenery is so amazing that properly should be one of the must-do activity in winter.
