Or we can say that most couples in Japan treat Christmas Day as important as the Valentine’s Day. The happiness will begin from the time when they begin to think about how to spend their Christmas Day and what present they will get to their partner, and they will prepare everything carefully to have wonderful Christmas together. So Christmas has become a worth expecting festival for the Japanese couples. But people from western countries may think that it is a little bit pathetic to just celebrate Christmas Day only with your lover. That is the difference of culture.

On that night people will dress up for a date, have a dinner with friends or go to see an illumination show. They will do all the Christmas stuff just on that night and when the next day which is a Christmas Day in the true sense comes, everything is just back to normal. However in western countries, people pay more attention to the Christmas Day on 25th Dec, and they change their presents on 25th too. It is said that it is the famous song of Yamashita Tatsuro called Christmas Eve and some famous Japanese idol dramas that leave Japanese people an imagination that Christmas Day is a festival should spend with their lover on Christmas Eve.
