Did you start playing “Super Mario Run”? And what’s more good news for Mario-fans? Here it is. Nintendo and Universal Parks & Resorts announced that Nintendo-themed area will be added to Universal theme parks in Osaka, Orlando, Florida, and Hollywood, California, over the next few years. The Osaka land is said to be the first to open before the Summer Olympic Game of Tokyo in 2020. The new areas will have multiple attractions featuring Mario and other Nintendo game characters, making guests feel as if they are playing inside their favorite games, as the two companies said.
As reported, most of Mario-fans suggested the name of the theme park should be like “Mario Land”. It will be comprised of expansive and multilevel environments filled with unprecedented, state-of-the-art rides, interactive areas, shops and restaurants, all featuring Nintendo most popular characters and games. Development cost at Universal Studios Japan is currently expected to exceed 50 billion Yen, and this will be the largest investment after Nintendo 30th anniversary. There is still some more time before 2020, so it is believed that lot of new technology will be applied to the “Mario Land” so as to fill it with 2D/3D facilities.
According to the official information, the Osaka USJ will be expanded from the left side of the entrance of the park. The car-park, staff office, and some parts of the other facilities will be pulled out or re-formed for the construction of “Super Mario Land”. The scale will make reference to the “Harry Potter” area, but the design, style and layout is a completely new concept and format.
