Nitendo unveiled “Super Mario Run” at an Apple event on 7th of Sep early this year. On 16th of Nov, Nitendo launched the App officially with all the details, gameplay, and price in their press event. So, after the hit of 「Pokenmon Go」, are you ready for another crazy mobile game battling?
The magic of a Nitendo Mario game is that anyone can pick it up and start playing without reading the instructions. “Super Mario Run”has also been designed to make best use of mobile platforms and a touchscreen. Inside the game, Mario runs automatically from left to right. And as he does, he will hurdle smoke at certain enemies, vault over low obstacles, and grab some surfaces on his own. You just need to tap the screen with your finger to make him jump. The longer you hold your finger down, the higher he jumps. This is the key to getting high scores. The new idea here is that you should be able to play “Super Mario Run”with one hand.
“Super Mario Run” iOS will be released on 15th of Dec in America. There are 13 languages version to be launched at the same time. The game will be free to download and play, at least for a little while. You’ll then have to make a one-off in-app payment to access the full game. For 9.99 USD (1200YEN) in the United States and most of other countries, you can play all six worlds (1-1 to 6-4), according to Nintendo.
“Super Mario Run”provides three different game modes. The first mode is single-player mode, called World Tour. The goal is to get as many coins as you can and end up at the flagpole at the end of the level before your time runs out so you can defeat Bowser and save Princess Peach. The second mode is Toad Rally in which you basically choose someone to battle, then that person races alongside you. The third mode is to put your Toads that you’ve collected to good use. In Mushroom Kingdom, using your coins and Toads, you can unlock items to build your own kingdom. You can choose from green pipes, flags, stairs, question mark boxes and more.
In addition to the new game, Nitendo also prepared a set of Super Mario stickers for iMessage.
So, can Nitendo replicate the success of of「Pokemon GO」? Firstly, 「Pokemon GO」is free to download. “Super Mario Run” however, would charge prospective users $10 for every Super Mario Run download. Secondly, there is animation support for「Pokemon GO」 and this do enhances its popularity around the world. For “Super Mario Run”, it is originally just a game and there are lots not really interested on it. If “Super Mario Run” wants to beat the performance of “Pokemon Go,” Nitendo may have to change their marketing strategy and also add focus on advertising mobile release.
“Super Mario Run”will be exclusively to iOS at this moment，Android users need to wait till 2017.
