Kita-yamazaki, located in Tanohata village of Iwate prefecture, has been awarded the top honorable price in an evaluation of Japanese tourism resource held by Japan Travel Bureau Foundation in the year 1999. From the cliff which is 200m high to the caves created by the sea water, the coastline has a length of 8km. Looking from the observatory, you can enjoy a scenery as beautiful as a painting.
There are 736 steps in total from the observatory to the shore. It may exhaust you to climb so many steps up to the observatory, but is totally worthy for the beautiful views you can see from there.
